A small quiet village resort described as fair for beginners with one or two resort level beginner’s runs, but they can be snowless early and late season. Otherwise the Col Rodella gondola links neatly into the Sella Ronda circuit in either direction. Also you can finish your day’s sliding in Canazei and return by a short bus hop. There is a fair choice of accomodation such as the three star Rododendro which is 400m from the Funiva lift, the four star Rubino executive which is right by the cable car station and there are one or two cheap and cheerful bed and breakfast nearby. The apres ski can be quite lively at busy times, particularly early evening. Not a great English speaking region at all.
Mountain Information
Just one resort of a multitude that make up the Sella Ronda ski area. Campitello is readily linked into 26km (17 mile) Sella Ronda circuit heading in both directions, but the single access lift can be a nightmare for morning queues. The circuit all the way round can be completed in a day by a reasonable intermediate skier on blues (mostly) and a few reds. An interesting new route, the ‘Great War Tour’ takes in places in the area of significance to the Italian Resistance of World War One, including the beautiful natural gorge of Serrai. Other than the local beginner’s runs all of Campitello’s skiing requires the use of the gondola with a reasonable network of lifts and runs contained between the Col Rodella and the Passo Sella. Otherwise from there you sweep down into Canzei which links with the Arabba circuit. The alternative to morning queuing is to take the 10 minute bus ride up to Canazei.
Apres Ski
There are more than 15 different bars, restaurants and pizzerie in Campitello. The apres ski can be quite lively at busy times, particularly early evening. Not a great English speaking region at all.
